Hey There!
C: Hey There!

What is your name and give us a little bio about you.
My name is Callaghan! I have a new album coming out on 31 August.

You are set to drop ‘SUMMER DAYS’ on the 13th July 18, tell us more about it.
The single was written with one of my producers, Starr Parodi. We wanted to write a song that was full of happiness and optimism and were reminiscing about the care-free days of summer when you’re a kid and the days seem to go on forever. The song is about being taken back in your mind to that feeling of endless summer, warm nights, sunshine on your face and a complete feeling of bliss.

What was the recording process like?
We had a lot of fun recording this song, including going down to Santa Monica Pier, which was just a few minutes from the studio in LA, to record the sounds of the ocean and people enjoying the warm weather.

What was the writing process like?
It started with the piano hook, and then we wrote the song from there. Sometimes songs can take weeks to finish, and sometimes it feels like you’re going with the flow and trying to capture a feeling during the writing session. This song felt like the latter – just closing my eyes and imagining my happiest summer memories and then pouring that all out into the song.

You are also set to drop your self-titled album ‘ CALLAGHAN’, tell us more about it.
This album is the culmination of a year of writing and recording in LA. I made the album in 3 stages, recording 4 songs at a time. It was easier to fit around my touring schedule that way, but it also gave me a great freedom to keep writing as the year went on, and draw from those experiences and what was going on in the world at the time and then put that into the songs I was writing.

What can we expect from it?
The album has 12 tracks that range from very dramatic, cinematic pop ballads such as “Broken” and “End of the world”, to uptempo, feel-good, happy songs like “Better Together” and “Summer Days”. I named the album “Callaghan” because I felt it reflected me as an artist more than anything I’ve recorded to this point. I’ve explored more of my sound and my voice than ever before, and delved deeper into my soul through these songs.

Describe the album is 3 words.
Cinematic, emotional, pop

Who did you work with on the album?
I’ve been able to work with some incredible songwriters and producers on this album. Anthony Resta (Blondie, Elton John, Duran Duran) produced a few tracks on the album and I worked a lot with producersStarr Parodi and Jeff Eden Fair who have worked on music for some of Hollywood’s biggest films including Mission Impossible and James Bond. This album also contains quite a few firsts for me – recording with a brass section, a 30 piece orchestra, and a gospel choir led by former singer with The Temptations, Louis Price.

Do you have any live shows coming up if so where will you be heading and where can tickets be bought?
I’ll be back in the UK in Oct/Nov for a tour including November 7th at Dingwalls in London as part of the London Roots Festival. I’ll be announcing more dates on that tour very soon on my website .

What else can we expect from you this year?
At the moment I’m back in LA and enjoying some time off the road, getting back in the studio writing new songs before hitting the road again for my US and UK tour in October and November.
