How did you come up with your name Acting Natural
Our name was somewhat spawned from an old song by Buck Owens called ‘Act Naturally’.We were on the way to a gig and I was listening to some music when ‘Act Naturally’ came on… Something about the title stuck a chord and had us playing around with the two words. Eventually, coming up with Acting Natural.

What is your genre of music?
Rock, Pop & Alternative

Give us a little bio about you as individuals and as a band.
We met in Tampa, FL and have been playing together since we were about 13 years old. We are all obsessed with food and share a love for great music.

One thing from each of us as individuals aside from music:
Eric – Cars
JD – Animals
Jesse – Video Games

What made you go in to music?
Well they always say to do something you love, so here we are! We all grew up listening to some amazing music and then progressed into learning to play instruments/writing songs… Music became the biggest part of all of our lives and is something I don’t think any of us could go on without. It naturally felt like the right path for us all to pursue.

Are you a signed?
We’re independent

You release your new single “Nicole” tell us more about it.
Nicole has a really nice vibe that I think is pretty uplifting and tells a good story…It seems to be a song that a lot of people are enjoying and able to relate to in their own way which is pretty cool!

What was the writing process like?
We stated writing this song at home one evening and came up with essentially the entire structure and a few melodies… It wasn’t until several months later that we were in the studio recording some other tracks for our EP that we recalled this song and ended up finishing the writing process in the studio.

What was the recording process like?
It was a lot of fun as we were making things up as we went along and doing the writing/recording all at the same time. We laid down all the instruments first and then recorded all the vocals. There were some great studio moments with this track, I remember tracking vocals and looking down at the clock to see it was 7:45 in the morning! We had recorded straight through the night and finished the track in that session.

Who did you work on the Single with?
We recorded in a studio down in Florida called Morrisound Studios with our engineer Jim Morris.

What message are you trying to get out?
I think what ever our message may be it’s positive, and we enjoy bringing people together through music. Spreading the age old word of love and being a channel for rock music to have its way back into the spotlight of music today.

You released the video for “Nicole”, what was the creating process like and who did you work with?
We worked with someone by the same of Austin Hein who has a production company here in New York. We really wanted to put together a clean, simple video that captured the essence of the song and us performing directly to the viewer.

Can we expect an EP or album this year and if so can we have a teaser?
We have a lot new music that we have been working on and super excited about… I would say throughout the rest of the year we plan to release multiple singles to keep a constant flow of music coming out to our fans. Then possibly another EP or album at the end of the year!

Do you have gigs coming up or a tour in planning?
We have a show on May 15th here in NYC and then planning on touring a little later in the year once we finish up in the studio.

If so where are you thinking of heading?
Probably make our way down the east coast for starters and then head out west.

We are planning on possibly collaborating with a friend/fellow artist by the name of Ash Minor. He’s a very talented singer & guitarist from Australia that recently moved to the US and was featured on The Four TV show. We met while we were on tour with iHeartradio’s Jingle Ball tour. Looking forward to working together in the near future!
