How did you come up with your name ‘MOSAICS

The project began with the concept of creating pieces of music solely using samples derived from the acoustic guitar. When we looked at the samples in our software the term “MOSAICS” popped into our heads and has stuck ever since.

What is your genre of music?

Electronic Rock- we are a blend of synth-pop, indy rock and folk.

Give us a little bio about you as a band and as individuals.

Devon was working on a bedroom production with his college roommate back in 2013. They had released several songs and EP’s with a male vocalist under the moniker “MOSAICS”. During this time Maryam was pursuing her musical career with a focus on songwriting and Scotty was building his skills as a guitarist. We met serendipitously through mutual friends, hit it off and have continued to develop our sound.

How did you meet each other?

The good old fashioned way- at a party!

Are you a signed?

No. We are DIY to the max!

You released your track ‘VICES’ , tell us more about the track.

Vices has a couple different meanings for us. We consider it to be a breakup song that takes you through an emotional journey of anger, relief, and nostalgia.

The song is a major step forward for us as songwriters, arrangers and artists. It is the first piece of music with producer Keith Milutonovic and was a major effort in stretching our musical abilities across the board.

What was the recording process like?

The record process was methodical and extremely detailed. We created over 24 versions of the song. We developed the song in a similar fashion to how a major label studio would approach writing a big single.

What was the writing process like?

We assembled the song piece by piece through moments of random inspiration and perspiration.

Describe the track in two words.

Emotional Rollercoaster

What was the naming process like?

It was quite simple; it came from the first line of the song.
