What is your name?

I go by the name of Charlie Mase.

What is your genre of music?

My genre/sound I would call rap with a twist of RnB/soulful melodies.

Give us a little bio about you.

I’m just me tbf. I guess you can say I’m like a ball of energy, mixed with creativity, love of music and a carefree spirit. I’ve always been the life of the party and someone who wants to entertain people.

What made you go in to music?

I’ve loved music since I was a kid, like an actual toddler loll. I just loved the old school 90s/00s era of music and always wanted to be on tv performing, touring etc. It always just seemed like a dream.

Are you a signed?

Yes, I’m signed to UPTWN FM which is an independent label.

You have released a new single ‘ SMOKE IT LOUD’ , can you tell us more about it.

Literally a freestyle I made on snap last summer, got hella love on snap so I uploaded it on twitter one day. The people loved it and kept on retweeting and next thing you know; I’m in the studio waved, freestyling the song lool.

Describe the track in one word each.

Vibes.

Who did you work on the track with?

To be honest the track originated from a snapchat video in the car with a few of my boys. I didn’t even know where the beat was from at the time but of course, was produced by Vsnry.

You also released a video to accompany it, what was the making of it like?

Hectic and frustrating lol. But I thank God it came together in the end. Big thanks to my team (UpTwn FM), my bro and my boys for making that all come together. Defo couldn’t have made it happen alone.

Will we see an EP or Album soon?

Well we were in the studio for the whole of last year and we plan to stay in it this year so we will see what happens…watch this space!

Do you have any collaborations coming up with any up coming artists?

We’ve worked alongside a few up coming artists/artists in the scene and have made some great music. Can’t wait for you lot to hear it.

Would you be up for collaborations if other musicians wanted one with you? and who would they have to contact?

Of course, I’m always ready to jump in the booth and work with new talent. I just wanna make wavey music at the end of the day. They can contact myself directly on socials or go through my management.

Do you have gigs coming up or a tour in planning?

I am performing on Spotlight First on the 25th of March, will be a great show.

Do you play any instruments?

Atm I don’t however I do love the piano so would like to learn soon.

Who are your influences?

Too many to name. Mainly 90s/00s music tbh.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?

Just the vibe I’m in or situations I’ve been through tbh. A little henny never hurt too 🙂

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?

Doing big things and letting my talent and effort speak for itself. I’ll let God do the rest

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?

Listening to music or going through experiences

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?

I cant say a specific song but ‘The Black Market’ album by PBGR was a great influence, I looked up to them a lot when I was at uni especially.

If you had one of your songs played on a TV show or Film which would you want it to be?

A song I’ve got called ‘Juice’ coming out later this year. ‘Smoke It Loud’ would be sick to hear too.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?

‘Remember, you’re only ever a song away’.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?

Stay true to yourself and enjoy the process of finding your sound. It’s worth the wait.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?

‘It always seems impossible until it’s done!’

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?

1) my lyrics lol
2) a quick prayer
3) a drink before I go on stage
4) to interact with the crowd
5) give a great & energetic performance
