Morgan, Lewys, Danny and Sion. I (Morgan) will be answering the questions.

What is your genre of music?
Alternative Pop

Give us a little bio about you.
We are 4 good friends that grew up in the mountains outside Cardiff, Wales. We’ve been making music and playing shows together since 13-14 years old and Safari Gold has been going for 4 years.

Are you a signed?
No. We have been in the past with another band but Safari Gold made more sense without a label. It gives us the freedom to do everything on our time.

Your set to release your new song ‘Easy Company’, tell us what its about.
It’s about pushing through the fear of change to live up to your potential.

Describe the track in two words.
Upbeat Banger

What was the writing process like?
It was great for this album. Like I said we’ve written and made this album with no rush at all and I think that comes through when you listen to it. It was written over 4 years so the there are a range of sounds and influences in there.

What was the recording process like?
Very easy and fun. Our drummer Lewys recorded and produced most of the album in our home studio which was just so relaxing and fun. For me, the best part. It took just over a year.

Who did you show the single to first?
Probably our housemate Leon. Over the year of recording the album he heard everything first and he didn’t really have a choice!

Your also set to drop a new self-titled album, tell us more about it.
Yeah the album has just come out now and we’re so proud of it. Again, like I said above, it’s taken 4 years to make and it’s a real collection of songs.

Do you have any gigs or festivals coming up?
We just played our album release show in Cardiff which was sold out and we’re not sure what our moves are next for shows. We’d like to play some festivals this summer though!

What made you go in to music?
We started playing Blink-182 covers!

Do you play any instruments?
We all play a variety of different instruments. I can actually play the Clarinet which is a good fact.

Who are your influences?
They range massively on this album from LCD Sound system, War On Drugs, Phoenix, Death Can For Cutie.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
Danny writes the majority of the lyrics. His brain is just full of lyrics and emotion. He’s a very talented lyricist.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
Probably still playing music together and still doing it at our own pace.

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
We work as scientists, tv producers, energy surveyors and charity fundraisers.

If you could collaborate with one UK Artist or band who would it be and why?
Elton John. We wouldnt let him sing on any tracks but he’s a good pianist so we’d ask him to do a keyboard solo of some kind.

if you could collaborate with one US artist or band who would it be?
Kendrick Lamar. By far the most talented musician out there right now.

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
Blink 182 – Anthem Pt 2

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
Don’t get into the music industry to make money. Do it because you enjoy it.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?
Exactly what wad said in the last answer.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
Play with it.

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
Plectrums, lyrics, thanking other bands, water and beer.
