What is your name?
Bryony Dunn

What is your genre of music?
Pop music

Give us a little bio about you.
I am a Surrey based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.

Tell us more about your music.
My music has indie-folk influences, acoustic vibes and lyrical writing.

Your single ‘ Golden Girl ‘ is out, tell us the meaning behind the track.
It’s about celebrity and those girls that seem to have impossibly perfect lives.

What was the writing process like?
Very different from my other songs, I was in Andalusia and wrote it with two lovely ladies called Audrey and Claire, we thought up the idea of Golden Girl and it just stemmed from there, without them and the situation I’d never have written anything like it! So it was great.

What was the recording process like?
It was fun! I went to Blackhills studios in Southampton and spent the day in the studio with Claire my cowriter! Then had a lovely few days exploring Southampton with one of my closest friends, it was a great experience.

You also released the video, what was the inspiration behind it?
The video is heavily based on the song, except we filmed my parts in Paris! It was an amazing time. It was gorgeous.

Will we see a EP or Album this year?
Maybe maybe!! I am working super hard on writing and recording at the moment

If so what can we expect from it?
A different sound to Golden Girl! Hopefully something that will get you dancing.

You have a tour coming up which is a very unique one if i do say so myself, tell us more about what it is and how it came about.
I’m asking people who know of red phone boxes to contact me and I might choose them for a private gig by a phone box basically.

Why did you choose Red Phoneboxes?
There is one outside my house that I’ve lived in all my life. Its out in the woods which is very cool.

Where will you be heading?
WHO KNOWS???? Get in contact!

What else can we expect from you in 2018?
Hopefully lots of gigs and music!

Are you a signed?
Although Golden Girl itself is signed to Online Records. I am not signed no!

Will we see any collaborations coming out?
Not as far as I know, in terms of duets etc. but I’m always up for it!

Who are your influences?
SO many people! I always answer this differently because I have grown up listening to such a variety of artists! But at the moment, Lorde, Taylor Swift, Sigrid and dodie are my super girl power inspirations. Of course I am still heavily influenced by Fleetwood Mac, Kate Bush, Genesis and so many more.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
Hopefully on the road and continuing to write and release music only with a few more people listening.

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
I love watching theatre and taking my dog out for walks in the beautiful surrey hills. Also baking and skiing are some of my favourite things to do.

Where would your dream venue to play in your hometown?
Probably G Live! I’ve seen a lot of great artists there and would be great to play such a big venue!!

Would you be up for collaborating with an unsigned artist or band? If so how can they contact you?
Of course!! Just drop me a message on my website or facebook page!

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
Ugh I don’t know about that!! But I can say that Taylor Swifts new album and subsequent ‘making of a song’ clips have really made me really confident that I can do it!

Where is your dream festival to perform?
Glastonbury OF COURSE

What made you go in to music?
I have always written songs and I have always loved music, I thought about going down different routes but nothing felt right apart from this. It’s just the only thing I could imagine doing.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
I mean, in terms of songwriting probably to get rid of your inner critic or at least ignore them while your writing! It’ll make songs so much more interesting! That was from the marvellous Charlie Dore who I have had the pleasure of writing with and even performing with!! I got to sing Pilot of the Airwaves on stage with her band at a warm up show for her tour, which I was supporting!

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not just about the industry also just as an artist/band?
COWRITING!! Honestly when you find the person that gets it your songs will become 100 times better and more exciting I assure you! But you will have to do a few difficult sessions until you find the right person or people!

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
Whatever will be, will be

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
I assume you mean what I need to bring to the gig?

Well, my guitar, pick, capo, bottle of water and my CD’s (which I usually forget haha)

You come off Tour
1/ Where is the first place you go? HOME definitely, just hope the fires lit!
2/Who is the first person you see? My doggo Jasper he is the cutest thing on earth
3/What is the first thing you eat? Either a roast dinner or peanut butter and jam on toast depending on the time of day

Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
Yes!! You can find them all on my website  or just search Bryony Dunn and you’ll probably find it!!
