Matt Westerman writes upbeat acoustic-pop songs meant to uplift and inspire listeners everywhere.

You have released your DEBUT EP ‘Life Out Loud’, tell us more about it.
It is my debut EP. We spent a lot of time working on it and I am really happy with how it turned out.
What was the writing process like?
A lot of trial and error. Working on songs and letting them sit. Then working on them again.
What was the recording process like?
I recorded at Swansound studios with Brad Swanson. He is the best.
Tell us more about the naming process.
It is a lyric from the song “One Fine Day.” I think it was a perfect way to summarize the EP.
Will you be releasing an album?
I hope so!
If so what can we expect from it?
Not sure. I have a couple of singles I plan on releasing in 2018.
What else can we expect from you?
I have two music videos that will be coming out soon. Sunrise will be out this year and Don’t Give up on You will be out early next year.
Who are your influences?
Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson, Coldplay, Outkast, Sigur Ros.
Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
I have no idea.
When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
I tutor so working with kids on their math homework! Haha.
Where would your dream venue to play in your hometown?
Hollywood Bowl and the Greek are both beautiful.

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
That’s a good question. I don’t know if any particular song did.

What made you go in to music?
My brain made me… and my heart. My stomach was strongly against the decision.
What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
“Yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present” –Master Oogway.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not just about the industry also just as an artist/band?
Don’t take things personally!

My guitar, guitar strap, water, guitar pick, and a great attitude!
