Aprilann
What is your genre of music?
Pop
Give us a little bio about you.
I am originally from Florida but now reside In Manhattan. I moved to NYC for acting school, which is my other love. I definitely want to persue both. I love writing songs about my experiences. Mostly about relationships that fall apart. But don’t worry there are some happy ones in there as well!

Tell us more about your music.
My music is pretty main stream pop. I wrote all my songs by myself for my upcoming EP and it’s going to be in chronological order from the last two years of my life. I am super excited to release it finally early 2018!

You released Crown & The Girls, what is the meaning behind the track? What was the writing process like?

I wrote this song the day I realized that I had to be done communicating with this person. It took a lot of denial on my part before I could finally accept it was done. I had the realization right after I got a text from this person cancelling some plans we had. I wrote the whole song on a bench outside of a department store in the time it took my brother to find new sneakers and check out. I decided right then that Instead of letting my anger out on him like every other time before, I’m going to write the best song I’ve ever written.

What was the recording process like?
I went in and recorded with my producer I have used a few times in NYC. That’s where I currently live. I went in and recorded it in a few hours and it was probably my most emotional session because this song was so personal.

You are currently touring with Akon, how did that come about? My manager got it set up for me. It was a lot of luck! She knew one of the guys setting up the opening acts and got them to give me the chance to open up.

Whats been your best memory since it started so far?
Watching Akon perform every night is my favorite part. I have learned so much on this tour just by watching him. He’s really incredible with the audience.

What was your reaction when you found out you was supporting Akon?
I was ecstatic as you can imagine. It has been the most exciting experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. I really couldn’t have asked for a better person or crew to do my first tour with. They have made this the most comfortable and welcoming environment for me.

Larry Gordon is also on tour with you, will we see a collaboration maybe?
Possibly! It could definitely happen. He’s an amazing artist and friend.

Will we see a EP or Album this year?
Next year my EP will be released!

You can expect a very honest depiction of the last couple years of my life.

At the Grammys accepting my award for album of the year. That would be nice!

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
I try to work out whenever I can. It’s been really hard to get to the gym while on tour because there is just so little time to do anything. I’m looking forward to running A LOT when I get home.

Where would your dream venue to play in your hometown?
At the Amway Center.

Would you be up for collaborating with an unsigned artist or band?

If so how can they contact you?
For sure! I’m always up for that. Call or email my manager who you can contact through my website at aprilannmusic.com

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?

I don’t have one song that made me want to do this. Music has always been what I wanted to do since before I can remember.

Where is your dream festival to perform?
Coachella would be awesome!

What made you go in to music?
I have always wanted to sing. Song writing is the main reason for me, I want to sing my songs and for the crowd to know the words. Once that starts happening, performing is going to be a whole new experience for me.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
Don’t let a crowd dictate what you think is a good song.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not just about the industry also just as an artist/band?
Watch, listen, and adjust. Try to absorb as much knowledge as you can. Watch your favorite artist and see what they are doing right.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
Speak your mind, even if your voice shakes.

The Lyrics! My make up, my glitter, my hair brush, and my phone.
