SINGING FROM THE AGE 4 AND NOW DALLAS,TX ARTIST LARRY GORDON DEBUTS HIS SINGLE ‘RUNNING AWAY’ AND TOURING WITH AKON!

What is your name?

My name is Larry Gordon.

What is your genre of music?

Pop

Give us a little bio about you.

I’m a Pop artist from Dallas, TX. I’ve been singing since the age of four. I create music that comes from my heart. It’s about life, love, and living in the moment. As a Singer-Songwriter, I have had the opportunity to debut my songs End Of The World and MVP on episodes of Love & Hip Hop (Atlanta and New York), and in the movies Hoovey and Yoga Hosier featuring Johnny Depp.

What made you go in to music?

As a child, my parents had their own band. So music was always been around me. I was really good at sports but it was something about being on stage, and the feeling I got when I entertained people. It was like music was made for me, and I was made for it.

Are you signed?

Yes, I am signed with Curb Records.

Your debut single  Running Away  is set to release, tell us more about it.

Running Away is just a fun and flirtatious record. I think it is a situation that most of us find ourselves in. Especially when it comes to relationships. I believe it is always that initial period when there are no fears, no walls, all about enjoying each other and living in the moment.

What was the naming process like?

Naming songs is one of my favorite parts of the process. With this song I wanted to say a lot with out saying much.

What was the writing process like?

The writing process was pretty smooth. It was almost like a conversation and the lyrics just started to pour out naturally.

What was the recording process like?

For this particular song we started with the music first. I wanted to create a sound that had a flashback of some of the old school music I grew up on but still keep the elements that we use in music today. Basically, merging the two and creating a unique feel good vibe.

Describe the track in 2 words.

Fun and flirtatious!

You have been announced as support for Akon, how did that come about?

I was blessed to be able to work with Dr. Pamela Brown, who is associated with DME Entertainment Group, on a few projects over the past few years. They were kind enough to remember me and reached out to myself and Curb Records with this amazing opportunity, which is such a BLESSING!

What was your reaction when you got the phone call?

To be honest, I thought it was joke at first. Then she said, “No I am serious would you like to go?” (In the back of my mind I’m thinking, is that even question?!?!?0 (Lol) I said, sign me up ASAP before you change your mind! (Ha ha)

What date are you most looking forward too?

Honestly, what I am looking forward to most is being able to share my music with you all. I always had dreams about performing abroad doing music, and now that dream is coming true!

What can you tell us about your impending debut EP?

My upcoming EP is a journey of experiences that a person may go through as he or she deals with a relationship(s). It’s high energy, flirty, melodic music anyone can relate to.

Do you play any instruments?

I play drums and a little piano/saxophone.

Who are your influences?

Michael Jackson, Usher, Akon, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, and Chris Brown

How do you get inspiration to write songs?

I get my inspiration from different experiences of life that I have encountered, my imagination, and just simply people watching. Watching different scenarios and how people handle themselves in certain situations allows me the opportunity to be open-minded especially when it comes to writing for yourself and other artists.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?

I see myself being an established artist and a household name. I would like to do movies and find my way into sports/movies and other things of that nature.

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?

When I am not doing music I am usually working out, playing basketball, hanging out with friends, playing Xbox, watching movies, or playing with my dogs (Black and Mia).

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?

Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean. The song musically is so simple but every instrument and pattern is placed perfectly. The execution of the vocal arrangement and song content made the record undeniable. Still to this day if you play this record you can’t help but move your body and want to do dance.

What the best advice you have ever been given?

Your first impression is your last impression.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?

I would tell them to be a “sponge”. Soak up any information that you can that will help you along your journey. Secondly, I would tell them to be “humble”. People are always willing to help those who are willing to listen and learn.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?

“Put God First In Your Life and You Will Always Be A Success” – Dr. Larry “T-Byrd” Gordon

Where in your hometown is a must go to visit?

Dallas Cowboys Stadium (aka Jerry’s World).

You’re straight off tour:

1) Where do you go? Home

2) Who do you see? My family and dogs

3) What do you eat? Popeye’s or McDonald’s

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?

1. Water

2. Warming Up

3. Lyrics

4. Routines

5. The name of what city you are located in for “shout-outs”

If you had to give your younger self-advice, what would it be?

I would tell myself to trust the process and be patient. Good things come to those who continue to work hard and stay prepared. Preparation + Opportunity = Success.
