What are your names?
So we have Craig (Vocals), Adam and Will on Guitar, Dan on Bass, and Simon on Drums

What is the bands name?
Mosaic.

How did you come up with the bands name?
Not sure really! We were throwing around loads of different names and played around with them. ‘Under the sun’ was another option but I think that was already taken (derived from the feeling that every band name under the sun had already been used)

What is your genre of music?
Highly energetic Indie Pop/Rock. Our songs tend to bring both the audience and us as performers to life!

Give us a little bio about you as a band and individuals.
We’re all good mates which definitely helps when it comes to live shows. We all met while studying at the Academy of Contemporary Music a few years ago have been together since. As individuals we share similar interests (mainly football and music) so there’s always something to laugh about between the 5 of us.

What made you go in to music?
The sheer enjoyment of it really. I think we all started playing our respective instruments from an early age, and its all we’ve wanted to do since.

Are you a signed?
Not yet!

Your single ’RIO’ is out, what can you tell us about it?
I’d say ‘Rio’ resembles our sound as a band. Its very energetic, in your face, and gets the crowd bouncing. You can definitely hear the rocky bloc party/franz ferdinand influences throughout as well! But its not out just yet.. release date is November 3rd!

What was the recording process like?
The recording process was a lot of fun – we worked with another of our mates, Henry Watkins, who did the producing for us. It was great to put all our individual parts together and hear them come to life as a collective.

What was the writing process like?
I think Rio was written when we were still at Uni, the lyrics were about relationshippy stuff
happening at the time and we wrote it over a few practice sessions… i’d like to think we’ve finished it now!

Will you be releasing a new EP or album this year?
I’m pretty sure we’ll release something earlyish next year, ‘Rio’ on November 3rd is the main
release at the moment!

Do you have any gigs or a tour coming up/planned?
Our next main gig is BBC Introducing in Reading on November 1st, which will be awesome. We have a 6 day South UK tour being organised for Early November and a 6 day North UK tour being organised for early January, so watch this space!!

If so where will you be heading?
London is a definite, and most probably the likes of Bristol, Brighton, Southampton, Bournemouth and oxford as well!

Do you play any instruments?
Other than our normal disciplines, Craig can do a bit of guitar, and dan is originally a guitarist by trade.

Who are your influences?
As well as Bloc Party and Franz Ferdinand, i’d say The Wombats, Oasis, Foals, The Kooks and
Walk The Moon.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
The songs tend to be about what’s going on in our lives at the times. As we’re mostly early 20’s, these are normally stories of drunken nights out with mates and relationships/encounters etc.

Would you be up for collaborations with other artists if so how could they contact you?
Always! They can get in touch with us on any of our social medias, or through our website.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
Hopefully playing festivals, touring a lot, and playing with bands that we look up to at the moment!

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
Probably watching our football teams lose (except Craig who’s a Utd fan). As supporters of
Reading (Simon), West Brom (Dan) & Aston Villla (Adam), Craig tend to get the bragging rights most Saturday afternoons!

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
For me, ‘Helicopter’ and ‘Like Eating Glass’ by Bloc Party (in 2006) were huge tracks. Arctic
Monkeys were big influences for us growing up as well.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
‘Never give up’ sounds a bit cheesy, but it does make sense. A lot of music people say ‘you never know who’s in the crowd’ which is a good one, so its important to put on a great show every time.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?
I think its important to play the music you enjoy, rather than the music that you think others want you to play.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
Put on a good show!

You get off a plane in your hometown,
1/ where is the first place you visit
Probably our parents house for home-made food
2/ where is the first place you see
Same as above!
3/ where is the first food place you go and what do you get
Either home, or Nandos with halloumi!

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
Leads, Spare strings, Drumsticks (Simon), and 2 beers
