How did you come up with your band name?
Self plagiarism – it was in a song I wrote.
What is your genre of music?
Dream-pop
Give us a little bio about you as a band and as individuals.
We started off as a fictional band in a gig-theatre show called Music Is Torture, which we’re touring in at the moment.
Previous to that we’ve been known as A Band Called Quinn. Louise sings on Kid Loco’s records and Bal records bands like The Pastels and Bill Wells for Domino Records. Robert plays with many acts including Bill Wells and Aidan Moffat and Belle and Sebastian. Steve was once a stunt bass player but fully fledged now.
How did you meet each other?
It was so long ago I forget – I keep getting mixed up with the A-Team but I don’t think any of us have ever been in prison.

 

Are you a signed?
No – we self release on our own record label Tromolo Records.

 

Your set to  release ‘Activate It ‘ , tell us more about it ?
Activate It is out on the 2nd of June along with our album. Response has been great so far – Steve Lamacq has added it to the 6Music Recommends playlist.

 

What was the recording process like?
Enjoyable, very easy and spread over a year in-between other work and life.

You are heading out on tour, is your set list sorted?
Yes! It’s a strange set-list with stage cues and actors making a up a bigger band…

 

Do you have any surprises up your sleeve?
For sure! Spectacle, pyrotechnics, stunning visuals, great storytelling and acting… It will be an unforgettable night out.

 

Do you play any instruments?
A Freshman guitar.

 

Who are your influences?
Brian Eno, Beach House, The Zombies, Bowie, David Lynch, Tim and Eric.

 

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
I catch them from the ether.

 

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
Being very happy.

 

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
Watch films, Netflicks series, go walking, read and eat out.

 

Where would your dream venue to play in your hometown?
Barrowlands – supported James there a while back.

 

what would be your dream show to have your music played on?
Twin Peaks.

 

Where is the one place you’d love to perform in your hometown?
The band stand in Queen’s Park.

 

If you could collaborate with one UK Artists or Band who would it be?
Brian Eno.

 

If you could collaborate with one US Artists or Band who would it be?
Tony Visconti.

 

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
Heart Of Glass by Blondie.

 

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
Say thank you instead of please.

 

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?
First instinct, best instinct.
