Hi Peter, how have you been since w last chatted?
Really good, thank you. I’ve since gotten married, and my wife has given birth to twin girls!
Luna and Martina! I’ve had a Spanish o.1 record, with Lax N’Busto – with Crazy World and life is pleasant. Everyone
is healthy thank God! I hope all is well with you guys too!
Give the readers who are new a little bio about you.
I was born in Dublin, Ireand and I have been writing since I was 15 or so.
I’ve had a couple of hits in UK, Ireland and Europe in different projects and rock is in my blood!
We last chatted about your single ‘High’ and now you back with a brand new one ‘Crazy World’, what can you tell us about this one?
I have been working with Lax N’Busto, who are a very famous Catalan Rock band, and we are putting an English Speaking album together. Crazy World is the first release from that body of work. It has been at No.1 here in Spain.
What was the recording process like?
Always fun with the likes of Lax N’ Busto. Music is a universal language and the guys are good people. As well as hugely talented and successful.
What was the writing process like?
I took the existing Catalan lyrics translated into English from a local translator called Susana. But as always I have to make the context and re-work the English into something that both works and sings well. While being mindful of having respect for the original message.
You are working with LaxNBusto again, how have they been?
They are amazing guys, and as well as being talented they make the process easy by being cool.
Culture here dictates that all people are equal, regardless of perceived status – something we can learn from in the UK and Ireland.
Anything different about the process of the new single?
Yes, I had an idea of how important the original Catalan record was to people here.
I have received a lot of mail from fans here letting me know. The pressure was huge.
Accompanied by another great video, what was the inspiration behind it?
The clash between the perception of cool and the run-down state that the world finds itself in.
Both the band and I agree that the world is only as rich as it’s poorest citizens. This particular piece is dedicated to the suffering of those in crisis hit countries like Syria.
Do you have any gigs coming up?
Yes, in Ireland we support Aslan on the 27th of May and have a full festival program building there. We are mainly hitting the studio hard.
What can we expect from you next?
More recordings and a full album with Lax N’ Busto as well as my own album.. busy busy!!
What quote or saying do you always stick by?
To thine own self be true… always be true to you..
When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
The Lyrics
The chords
The people on the guestlist
To call my wife and children
To have fun
