What are your names?
Matt, Ross, Otto, Si
What is the bands name?
Fond Of Rudy
How did you come up with the bands name?
Our music essentially tries to encapsulate the feelings of being in and out of love. And the pursuit of it. ‘Fond of’ generally means really liking and being drawn to something but the Rudy part, you can consider as a blank space… you fill it in. We want people to draw their own meanings for what Rudy is to them whilst engaging in the music. Who do you love? What are you fond of?
What is your genre of music?
Indie Pop…maybe?
Give us a little bio about you as a band and as individuals –
Fond Of Rudy are an indie pop 4 piece band. The songs are developed from a heartfelt core, washed with stylistic references from 80s icons and revived a state of modernity through contemporary production.
Are you a signed?
Unsigned
you have released ‘The Line’ , tell us more about it –
song’s theme is frustration, figuring out the time to draw ‘The Line’ on a relationship, when being lead on
You have some gigs coming up where will you be performing?
It has been quite a busy year, so 2 more gigs planned for the year, maybe 1 other one…who knows!
Where are you most looking forward to play?
Loved playing at the festivals this year, so it would be amazing to have more of the same next year
Can you tell us more about the EP you are set to release early next year?
It’s called ‘TWO’, it will have 4/5 tracks on it, more developed and bigger than the last…it has been great fun and emotional to record, hopefully listeners will be taken on a bit of journey with this EP
Do you have any collaborations coming up with any other artists or bands?
Could potentially be some remixes for one or two songs of the EP, watch this space
What made you go in to music?
Entertainment, we all love creating. It’s what we do…have a passion for and what we get the most enjoyment out of on a daily basis
Do you play any instruments?
The bands set up is 2 guitars, bass, drums and lot of other electronic triggers going on…it can get a little bit mental
Who are your influences?
Everyone in the band draws a slightly different influence, one thing we can all agree on is that we love 80s music – that is definitely a point of reference for our music, trying to create an 80s sound but developing it to be a modern facing record
How do you get inspiration to write songs?
The trials and tribulations of love
Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
5 years…headlining Glastonbury…haha joking, who knows, nobody can predict the future…we just want to enjoy now and keep creating more new music
When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
We all work the day shift in our lives, other than that we like to keep fit with some form of exercise every week
What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
That is a really difficult question, not sure that can be pinned down to one song. Michael Jackson was pretty inspiring…Prince…Fleetwood Mac…all epic, couldn’t pick one!
What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
This one resonates – “Be nice to people on your way up because you’ll meet them on your way down”
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist? As an artist, create an exterior or shell for rejection…you will get a thousand no’s before you get a yes. If you do obtain that yes, make the most of it
What quote or saying do you always stick by?
Well I reckon it’s the previous advice answer
When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
5 things, hmm…instruments (Forgotten a guitar before) laptop, headphones, guitar plectrums, an alcoholic beverage for Si, too many things to list…we have a list that we need to tick off before we head off for a gig – #organisation
