What is your genre of music?
I’d say it was a fusion of varying sounds. Some of the guitar and synthesiser sounds are reminiscent of the 80s, some of the melodic ideas feel slightly R&B, some of the backing vocals are very country sounding but the big drums and loud, crisp vocals bring it to the modern day and mixing it all together essentially creates a fresh, modern edgy pop sound.
Give us a little bio about you.
I was born and grew up in Manchester, England. I started learning to play the piano at quite a young age and started writing my own music at around thirteen. My music career began at fifteen, when a song I wrote for some music coursework ended up gaining a lot of attention. Since then I’ve had some amazing experiences: being on national radio and BBC and ITV TV, in newspapers and magazines, working with some amazing musicians in some really high-tech studios, playing the most incredible concerts and just having the best time. For the past two years I’ve been working on an album and trying to let my musical sound grow up with me. My latest release, ‘Take Back the Power’ is just a small snippet of what’s to come and I’m so excited!
What made you go in to music?
Music was always a large part of my life growing up. The only artist I would ever listen to was Avril Lavigne and I thought she was the coolest person ever and dreamt of being just like her. When I started to write my own songs I found it was my favourite thing to do and decided that was how I wanted to spend my time.
Are you a signed?
I have a Publishing and Sync contract with a company called A&G Sync and had one of my songs selected by Talk Talk for their TV advertising campaign.
My latest video “Take Back The Power GBX Remix” was remixed by George Bowie, presenter on the breakfast show and the GB Experience (GBX) on Glasgow radio station Clyde 1 and has won 2 Sony’s, 3 New York Awards, numerous Club DJ Awards and has this year remixed tunes for Spandau Ballet, Marcus Collins and Neon Jungle. It’s been played on George’s radio show and at various events @ GBX Experience in Glasgow and Ibiza.
The song was written By Me, John McLaughlin, Jud Mahoney, and Natalie DeLucia. Produced by McLaughlin and Mahoney at Boombox Studios, Glasgow.
John McLaughlin has 5 number ones and over 20 top 10 hits with bands like Busted, 911, Westlife. Jud Mahoney has worked with Chris Brown, Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson. Natalie DeLucia was the backing singer for Britney Spears.
Another remix of the song on the EP is a rock version by Gordy Goudie, guitarist with Echo & The Bunnymen and producer for Simple Minds.
Your brand new Single ‘Take Back The Power ‘ , what’s the meaning behind?
One of my most empowering songs to write was ‘Take Back The Power’. It was a song about me taking full control of my music career and directing my sound exactly how I wanted it. I feel the lyrical theme throughout the EP was that of taking control of a situation whether it be in terms of a career or a relationship with somebody. I wanted to make sure the instrumentation was powerful and assertive just like the ideas behind the lyrics.
Will we see a LP or Album?
Yes! We’re just finishing the album which I’m so excited to share. It’s been such a big part of my life for so long and I just can’t wait to finally get it out there for the world to hear.
Will you be doing any gigs or tours?
We’re planning that at the moment. I hope that I’ll be back on tour as soon as possible because being able to perform live gives me such a buzz that I can’t wait to experience again.
Do you play any instruments?
Yes, I play guitar, piano and ukelele. Piano is the instrument that comes most naturally though and it’s what I write most of my songs on.
Who are your influences?
I’ve loved listening to Fleetwood Mac, Haim, Coldplay and Taylor Swift while creating this EP.
How do you get inspiration to write songs?
I get inspired from anything and everything. Whether it’s an overheard conversation in the street or an argument I’ve had with a friend. It might be a particular place that just felt inspiring or something I’m going through in my life.
Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?
I want to finish and release my album. I’m so proud of every single song on there so far and feel like this EP is just a snippet of what’s to come. I would love to keep playing live to bigger and bigger audiences because singing my songs to a crowd of excited people is just the most incredible experience that I will never stop loving.
When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
I’m a huge football fan of Manchester City so I love watching them when I can (getting to play concerts at the Etihad stadium twice was a dream come true!) and I’m a bit of a science geek. I’m currently studying Chemical Engineering at university which is a challenge but I love filling my time with things that challenge me and I love to learn.
What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
As I said earlier, I was a huge fan of Avril Lavigne growing up and I would always have her song ‘Complicated’ on repeat in my room. I would stand on my bed and drag family members in and perform it to them until they were sick of the song and it’s what really made me fall in love with performing.
What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
I think the best advice is probably when I was to always stay true to yourself. While it sounds clichéd, it’s so easy in this industry to go along with what loads of more experienced people than you are saying and it can be intimidating to disagree with them, but sometimes you have to be firm when it comes to who you are and what you want to stand for.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?
Be as creative and unique as you can and always strive for improvement in yourself.

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
Don’t forget to warm up, take a drink, be confident, try and connect with the audience and just have the best time.

Great to find a brand new artist who is both beautiful & talented , about time we had good fresh material instead of all these old groups
