JONNY CARROLL IS A UNSIGNED SINGER SONGWRITER FROM TEXAS,CURRENTLY ON TOUR MAKING HIS DREAMS COME TRUE

What is your name?My name is Jonny Carroll.

What is your genre of music?

folk pop.

Give us a little bio about you.

I was born and bred in central Texas, but spent the later years on my life in northern Michigan. I started playing guitar and writing songs when I was 10 and it shaped the direction that my life went. A few years ago I found myself finally having the courage to do whatever it took to make my music my career. It’s been 110% ever since.

Are you a signed?

Not yet.

Your debut Album “Leaving On The Light”, whats the meaning behind?

It’s about the emotional journey through life dramatically changing through love, loss, and resolution, and the wonderful, painful, breath taking ways it changes you.

Tell us more about some of the tracks on the album.

My current favorite to play at shows is, “When I’m Alive”. The live show set up for the summer tour is acoustic, kick drum, lap steel, and violin. It’s a song about being subjected to the whims of bipolar disorder, and all the good and bad that comes with it.

Are you heading out on tour with the Album?

Already are! I have a crew of five on a national 60 day circuit. We are on week two, in Austin Texas.

If so which cities will you be going?
So far we’ve played
Grand Rapids, MI

Chicago, IL

Indianapolis, IN

Marion, IN

Louisville, KY

Nashville, TN

What made you go in to music?

I heard my dad serenading my mom in the living room one day when I was 10 and it moved me so deeply, I knew I wanted to do that.

Do you have any festivals you will be playing this year?

Sadly, no festivals, but a bunch of dive bars, night venues, and cafes.

Do you play any instruments?

I play guitar, piano, harmonica, bass, mandolin, and I’m starting to learn violin.

Who are your influences?

Biggest current ones are Passenger, Ed Sheeran, Gavin James, Noah Gundersen, and James Bay.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?

Stories, tour experiences, people I meet, settings I find myself in… are all factors.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?

Hopefully working as hard as I am now and working towards the charts.

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?

I love cooking, swimming, reading, writing short stories, and more than anything food and coffee.

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?

Probably either ‘Holes’ by Passenger or ‘I Want Crazy’ by Hunter Hayes.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?

“People matter, things don’t.”

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as anBartist?

Be accessible and approachable. Talk to as many people as you can after a show, and make them feel welcomed into your life. Break down the walls between the stage and the floor, and let people know you are real.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?

“Bad experiences make good stories.”

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?

My guitar capo, merch, having been warmed up, a clear mind, and coffee.

Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
