What is your name?

 My name is JC Villafan.

 

How old are you?

I am 24 Year’s old.

 

What is the genre? 

My genre is Soul/Pop/Folk.

 

Give us a bio about you.

I started playing guitar and singing at age 12. I wrote my first song at age 14, then went on my first tour at age 16. I enjoy my touring, and what I enjoy most about them is singing and connecting with people through my songs. Cliché, I know, but there’s something about using music as a conduit to connect the human soul. It’s like, for a second, we transcend to a different plane; and only hope and joy are real.

 

Tell us more about ‘America’s For Dreamers’ 

America’s for Dreamers is my first full length album. The title comes from the expression, “living the American dream.”

 

Tell us the meaning behind the Album name ‘America’s For Dreamers.

America’s for Dreamers is my life’s story, starting with my parent’s trek from Mexico to the United States, to where I find myself today, and everything in between. Every song is chronologically ordered, and if listened to carefully you’ll understand my life, and my hope is that the listener will see reflections of their own life in this album.  

 

Who worked on the Album with you? 

My engineer for the album was Jacob Kisner. My mixing engineer was Kevin Penner, and my mastering engineer was Dale Becker.

 

What’s been the best experience so far? 

So far the best experience is meeting my fans and hearing about how my music has inspired or encourage them.

 

 

Are you signed? 

Yes. I am signed to my own label: Sumatra Music Group.

 

Will you be heading out on tour? 

Yes. My next tour is set to be in late September of 2016.

 

If so where will you be?

I’ll be in France, Belgium, Germany, and England.

  

What made you go in to the music industry? 

Not sure, to be honest. I guess, I just love singing for people.

 

 

Do you play instruments, if so which ones?

I do. I play guitar, mainly. I also dabble on piano, drums and bass.

 

Who are you influences? 

Growing up I was heavily influences by Elton John and Brian McKnight

 

 

 

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 

In five years I see myself as a happy father, making my wife and kids happy and proud. Musically, I see myself charting on top 40 radio, touring the world, and investing in start up businesses.

 

If you could collaborate with one UK Artist or band who would it be? 

If I could collaborate with a UK artist it would be Elton John.

 

If you could collaborate with one USA Artist or band who would it be? 

If I could collaborate with a US artist it would be Brian McKnight.

 

Where is your dream venue or festival to perform at in UK?

My dream venue to perform (and sell out) would be the Brixton Academy in London.

 

What was the song or band that most influenced you to go in to music?

The song that influenced me the most was Elton John’s Can You Feel The Love Tonight.

 

 If you could have your music played on a Tv Show, which would it be?

I think having my music played on Grey’s Anatomy would be interesting.

 

What do you do in your spare times 

I like to play soccer on my spare time.

 

What advice would you give to others in the music industry? 

Don’t stop getting better, be the best you can be, and don’t give up.

 

What quote or saying do you always stick by?

Live life intentionally.
