FROM PLAYING THE GUITAR FROM THE AGE OF 10, WILLOW ROBINSON TOOK THE TIME TO CHAT TO ME ABOUT HIS NEW SINGLE ‘STONES’ AND WHAT HE HS TO OFFER!

What is your name?
My name is Willow Robinson.
How old are you?
I am 22!
What is your genre of music?
Its a blend of Singer-Songwriter/ Folk/ Anthemic Rock and Blues
Give us a little bio about you.
I was born in Los Angeles to British parents, and moved back to England after only a few months of being born. Ive always had dreams of being a full time musician, and amazingly they seem to be coming true! I now live and work out of London, and have been touring the UK over the past 2 months.
How long have you been doing music?
I started playing guitar when i was 10 years old. Initially i was forced to play classical guitar, and almost gave up playing! But as soon as my parents bought me an electric guitar, it changed everything, from that moment i knew what i wanted to do.
What made you go in to music?

I always loved music, and i remember when i was so young fiddling around on a piano trying to make something sound good. I became passionate about bands from the 60’s and the whole lifestyle that went with it. I think the first time i really knew i wanted to be a guitar played was when i heard ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ for the first time.

 Are you signed?

I am signed to Clark & McGee, which is fronted by Warner ADA.

You released ‘Stones’  this month, what is the story behind that track?

I lived in LA for 2 years studying music, and i met an amazing girl out there. When i came back to England i suddenly felt intense feelings of longing, and it made me feel very insecure and worried that she would find another man in LA. I wrote the song almost immediately after i got home, as well as loads of others haha. Writing songs is definitely easier when you have something that makes you unhappy or emotional. Will you be doing any gigs or a Tour?
I have loads of gigs coming up! In May i am going on a full UK tour with Kula Shaker, and then i have loads if shows at the end of the month. Im also playing the Hay and Isle Of White Festivals. Shows are coming in all the time so keep and eye out, I’m hopefully doing a solo tour in the summer!

Who are your influences?

My biggest influences reside with the greats like The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, Otis Redding. Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Lana Del Rey, Angus Stone, John Mayer, and Eddie Vedder. But ill listen to almost anything, i think the key to being a good musician is being open to all genres.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?

Everything i experience inspires me, but usually the ones that are painful and difficult are the best for writing songs. I couldn’t not write music, its what drives me to get up in the morning. Inspired or not, i have to write songs, its the only way to keep my sanity.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?

In 5 years i hope I’m looking back on a really great journey, and that i have a story like no other. But also rather than just looking back ill be looking forward to all the great things that are to come!

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
