I picked up my first instrument when I was 13 and haven’t put it down sense.
Where did the name ‘ East Of Eli’ come from?
It was inspired by a indie film project my wife and I were set to produce a year or so ago.The main characters name is Eli, who is a vagabond musician traveling across Morocco to find solace. We were set to produce it, but then decided to wait a couple more years so we could focus on the music side of things.
I’ve always been a huge fan of music.Honestly, I don’t think I know anyone today who isn’t. For me, I find it to be the most daring and riskiest artistic endeavor one can take because there’s no character to hide behind. In some way shape or form, I believe to some extent, you are what you write.
Nope…And proud of it!
So many! I love Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Sting, U2, ColdPlay, Roy Orbison, Etta James, Django Reinhardt, Otis Redding…The list goes on and on.
Crazy Beautiful inspired by my love and affection for my amazing and beautiful wife, actress Chyler Leigh. This year for Valentine’s Day, I wanted to give her something timeless that she could always have as a reminder of just how much I love her.
I’m so proud of this song! Originally, it was actually a lot more guitar heavy which wasn’t a bad thing, but it would have been the road more traveled for me, so I sat with it for a while and just felt something needed to change.I wanted to push myself to redefine my sound and discover another side of myself creatively, so I went back into the studio and remixed and remastered the track with my dear friend and co-producer Jorge Costa, right before the release.
It was a bit surreal and a reflective moment for me.I’ve come a long way since I started doing music and really feel I broke through to a place of artistic freedom with this song. We’ve been back in the studio since then and the tracks weare working onare truly unique and unlike anything we’ve done before.
Weare going tobe releasing more songs next month and start looking at setting up a late summer tour in the States and hopefully, some shows in the UK. It all depends on what our fans want.
Yes and no.We will release enough songs to fill a traditional album but being that record sales are down, we are more focused on releasing singles. It seems today, its all about co -existing on playlists with other artists, which I think is a great thing for artists and it should be celebrated more within our industry.
Yes…As long as the demand is there, we will make it happen.
If not will you be getting it? Not yet, but soon enough. We are actually going through a complete re-brand for EOE at the moment. So we should have some swag out by no later than June and the great thing is, everything we sell will benefit various charitable causes through Charity Pulse.
Everywhere. My wife and family, other artists, the news and of course my own personal experiences.
Great question…I see myself, touring quite frequently with EOE across the world and collaborating with other artists in the studio to create music with the purpose that gives back and inspires others to find what they are most passionate about so they can do the same in there lives and help make this world a better place.
Honestly, I’d probably go back to school to become a Kindergarten teacher.Kids areso impressionable at that age and I don’t feel there are enough male teachers out there for these kids to look up too but so many grow up without a father for whatever reason and I really believe it could make a big difference for the next generation.
Charity Pulse was inspired a couple years ago by our close friend, Seth Maxwell, who runs an amazing charity that we have been involved with for the past 5 years called Thirst Project. Charity Pulse is a novel concept. We want to connect what people are most passionate about to a purpose greater than self by finding inspiration from the artists, talent and celebrities that influence our daily lives. We are placing analtruistic lens on the world of entertainment to look beyond the surface of traditional media and share what these globally recognized influencers are personally inspired by.
Absolutely!Charity Pulse may be our brainchild but it is not ours alone.CP is all about YOU.We just happen to be leading the way to build this community that’s inspired to connect what they are most passionate about in life to a purpose greater than self. Both Chyler and I have found that when westarted living our lives beyond our own needs, that our lives actually became more fulfilled and more free-spirited soto speak. It’s amazing to live outside the confines of our own personal limitations.
You also sing with Chyler as Modern Machine/ Westleigh will there be any new material coming from you as a duo?An album maybe 😉
