AARON,TOMMY,STEVE AND CHRISTIAN ARE READY TO RELEASE THEIR NEW ALBUM AND GIVE THE FANS WHAT THEY WANT.

BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO CLUB DRIVE ON THE SIGNING AND HERE’S YOUR CHANCE TO GET TO KNOW MORE ABOUT IT!
I HAD A CHAT WITH THE LADS , HERE’S WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY!

What are your full names?
Aaron Trowbridge
Stephen Ford
Christian murphy
Tommy O’malley

What is the band’s name?
Club Drive

Whats the reason behind the band’s name?
We wanted something fresh and memorable, something that suited our music better and something that looked good written down – Club Drive seemed to tick all the boxes

How old are you?
Early 20’s

What is your genre of music?
Pop/Funk/Rock

How long have you been doing music?
Individually we’ve all been playing instruments, writing ,recording and performing live for years now – but together as a band for 3 years (although not as Club Drive of course)

What made you go in to music?
All manner of reasons really, we all grew up listening to a real mix of different bands and artists. Some that our parents introduced us to from an early age and some that we discovered ourselves growing up and going to gigs. I think going to a lot of gigs from a really young age really drove the passion to actually pick up an instrument and play, then a lot of exciting opportunities started to present themselves after joining bands and meeting people in the industry over the past 7/8 years!

Are you a signed?
We are indeed we are to  Signed to NUA Entertainment, an incredible indie label with a solid passion for what we’re doing and some great things are going to be coming this year.

CONGRATULATIONS on the NEWS of recently getting Signed, How did that come about?
Well to be honest, as cliché as it sounds, I guess the overall outcome was from a lot of hard work and from years of putting the hours in – Meetings, writing, performing live, rehearsing, going to gigs and networking, promoting ourselves up and down the country and online. It’s taken a long time to reach this point and though it isn’t always easy (as is the case for most bands we know) it’s definitely way more satisfying knowing you’ve worked hard to do it properly. Finally being put in front of the label we signed with was the result of some close connections to us sending them an old demo of SPARE TIME and the label emailed us the very same day to request a meeting. The rest is history J

Who was the first person you told?
Well, the actual signing process takes a while to put in place of course, but the day that we went for our meeting I think we kept it fairly low key and only told our families.. just in case it was bad news at the end of it!

What advice would you give to Artists/bands looking to get signed?
Genuinely..Don’t think about it. Make music you’re happy with and could imagine yourself buying or telling your friends about and eventually people will get to hear it. People won’t share something they don’t think is good and labels won’t sign something that people don’t think is good so.. focus on the bit you can control and let everything else build organically.

Can we see new Merch, if so what will there be?
There will be loads is the easy answer – Tshirts, cd’s, posters, wristbands and all sorts…

What instruments do you play?
Christian – Drums (and a little bit of a lot of other things)
Tommy – Guitar (can also play piano and drums)
Steve – Bass (can also play Guitar and Saxophone)
Aaron – Vocals (can play piano to no great standard what so ever and that’s it)

Who are your influences?
There would be way too many to make this article.. but to name a few –
Pretty much everything in the charts today
Stevie Wonder
The Police
Early 00’s r’n’b
Fleetwood Mac
Electronic music (MadeonSkrillex)
we listen to everything…..

When will your new material be out?
There will be new music cropping up throughout this year, singles, live sessions, music videos, lyric videos.. all sorts to keep people keen and then something big at the end of the year.

Will you be doing your own tour?
We certainly hope to yeah, there’s talks at the moment of a few things in the UK so we’ll see what comes of it – for now though we have a headline show at Islington O2Academy(London) on Sunday 1st May which will be our biggest headline show to date (800 cap) so grab tickets if you’re reading this.

What Cities would you want to perform in?
All of them (World takeover)

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
It comes from all sorts of different things – the inspiration to write songs will always be there but the content of what they’re about and how they form changes each time – a lot of our material often sounds upbeat and happy but usually commentates on something a bit darker.

Where do you see yourself in 2-5 Years?
Hopefully on a beach somewhere enjoying ourselves reminiscing about all the shows we’ve played and the things we’ve achieved- still a band of course J

When you’re not doing  music, what do you do?
I don’t think any of us can remember a time where music didn’t take up some part of our day – be it writing it, performing it practicing it or meeting about it!

If you could collaborate with one UK Artist who would it be?
Too many to choose from but I think Jess Glynne would be a really interesting one for us.

If you could collaborate with one USA Artist who would it be?
Depending on what kind of song I guess John Legend would have to be in there somewhere for sure – the man’s voice is like velvet.

Where is your dream venue or festival to perform in UK?
Dream venue – 02 arena
Dream festival – Glastonbury
DREAM BIG

Where is your dream venue or festival to perform in USA?
Madison Square Garden, NYC for the history and Coachella because it always has the best line up.

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
I feel like we’re skipping the question a bit here but it would more be albums rather than one song and there would still be too many to mention, basically anything up beat that makes you want to stand up, flip the table and go and put the world to rights.

What was the first song you wrote as ‘Club Drive’?
Technically ‘Breathless’ as the first song we wrote together that we still play, but under the name Club Drive, that would be ‘Leaving’.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
ABC
Assume Nothing
Believe No-one
Check Everything

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
ABC  But really, there are a lot of people in the industry (as with any business) that can talk the talk but there are very few that can put their words into practice, so be careful and always check with someone else if something seems to good to be true.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
Again sorry to repeat ourselves but probably ABC or ‘fail to prepare… prepare to fail’

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
Instruments
Change of Clothes
Hair products (so rock n roll us)
Food
A sharpie – because guaranteed someone always needs one, band members, venue staff or people in general are forever asking for one!
