We wanted to use Porsche but we thought we might get sued.  Now we sound like a porn star.  Or a real housewife of Atlanta.

Give us a Bio about the band and and you guys as individuals?

Formed  in early 2015 by singer Matt Brunsvold and guitarist Anthony Gabuzzi, Matt first started working on songs in late 2012 while living in downtown Phoenix.  TRAGIC FIGURE was written in pieces, some in Phoenix, some while touring with SLEEPING WITH SIRENS as a guitar tech, and the rest being finished up in California, bouncing ideas back and forth via email with Gabuzzi.    “I basically recorded the entire record on a borrowed laptop in my apartment in Long Beach ha ha”  Matt and Anthony would eventually end up in Minneapolis to finish the record with producer James “Fluff” Harley (Prince, yumi matsutoya)  “We’ve (James) been friends for over 10 years, and I’ve always respected what he does and we finally found a project to do together.”
What is your genre of music?
New wave meets industrial meets Prince.

How long have you been doing music?
I’ve been playing music since I was about 14, in bands since I was 16.

What made you go in to music?
When I was younger I was obsessed with Michael Jackson and Prince and Motown records.  Then in my teens, punk rock pulled me in.
Are you a signed ?
Not yet, looking for the right fit. We self-funded the record ourselves, and online distribution is readily available to anyone, so at this point it’s more about getting Managment and/or a booking agent so we can start touring.

 What instruments do you play?
Guitar, piano, drums, organ and bass.  But I really love electronic elements.  It’s so convenient to have every sound imaginable at my finger tips.

Who are your influences?
Queens of the Stone age, Mini Mansions, Nine Inch Nails, Death Cab for Cutie, Prince, Michael Jackson, Elliott Smith, punk rock.

When will your new material be out?
We have our EP up on soundcloud right now, and it will be available on ITUNES when the final mixes are ready.

When will you guys be touring and where if you are?
We’ll be playing LA and Phoenix initially.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
Our E.p. Tragic Figure is kinda of a down and out record. It’s really a record that explains how hard trying to make it as a musician can be. Failed relationships, constant rejection, ego, let downs. It can be rough. Writing this record was a form of therapy for me ha ha.

Where do you see yourself in 2-5 Years?
Touring and making more records!!

When you’re not doing  music, what do you do?
Back in the day I used to go out a lot, I’m over it.  I like hiking and biking and camping.  Or binge watching shows on Netflix with my lady.

If you could collaborate with one UK Artist who would it be?
Mark Ronson.  Hands down. Uptown Funk reminds me of Morris Day and the time, it’s so good. And I love that he worked with Kevin Parker (Tame Impalla), he’s got great taste.

If you could collaborate with one USA Artist who would it be?
It would be super rad to work with Skrillex/Diplo. Or Josh Homme.
Where is your dream venue or festival to perform in UK?
Reading Festival
. Where is your dream venue or festival to perform in USA?
 Coachella
What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
I think it was Blink 182’s recurs Dude Ranch that really made music feel accessible to me.
What was the first song you wrote?
For this record, “Good Times” was the first idea I put down, it was actually something I wrote about 3 years ago but never finished.  I was listening through demo’s to get some inspiration for this record and I heard it and it just worked.
What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
Nothing’s in music’s guaranteed, so make sure you love the music and people you surround yourself with.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Learn protools. Learn piano. Learn to sing, even if just back up harmonies. Be as valuable as you can.
