Where did the name come from?
It’s taken from a Wyndham Lewis poem of the same name, a very underrated writer.
What are your full names?
Luke Gilfedder and Angus Macalister, we run the group. Danielle Roseler is a model from Manchester, originally from South Africa, and she is also involved with the group.
How old are you?
We are both 22.
What is your genre of music?
Alternative
Give us a little Bio of you as a band and individual.
We also run a Manchester theatre group ‘Finn Youth’ which began when we met at Manchester Grammar School. We turned down university to do ‘Finn Youth’, and we had shows at the Royal Exchange Manchester in 2012 & 2015 and on the West End also.
Luke was born in Warrington and Angus in Wilmslow, two very different places! Manchester is like the neutral ground. That’ll be reflected in the music. This first single is very Wilmslow – for better or for worse.
How long have you been doing music?
The group only started in Summer 2015, so not too long really!
What made you go in to music?
Austerity and/or ‘La Dolce Vita’!
Are you a signed?
No, though we haven’t even looked for a label yet.
What instruments do you play?
We’re pretty much just the fundamentals – Guitars, Synth (the new Korg) Bass and Drums!
Who are your influences?
For music: Real Lies & John Barry. For books it’d be: Norman Mailer, Colin Wilson & Jonathan Meades – they’re all great.
When will your new material be out?
‘When I Was Bully’ – the first single, is out on the 17th October.
Is there a Album coming out?
Definitely. The debut will be early next year. ‘Passionate Leave’ is the working title right now.
Will you guys be touring and where if you are?
We will be doing a tour to support the album next year. It would be great to do some stuff outside of Manchester on that tour finally!
How do you get inspiration to write songs?
Inspiration is just life in 2015 really – everything seems to be getting better as it gets worse, everything is becoming more sensitive to nuance as it becomes more orthodox. Young people can sense – and shape through music, film & fashion – all of these changes, but they get too wrapped up in apathy to do anything about it.
Where do you see yourself in 2-5 Years?
Hard to predict really in the current climate! It’s all about outlasting yourself, keeping the group going strong, and on our terms, as best as we can.
When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
Let football and cheap alcohol shake us to the core.

Where is your dream venue or festival to perform in UK?
The Ritz in Manchester would be good to play one day.
Where is your dream venue or festival to perform in USA?
The Grand Ole Opry.
What do you think of the Manchester music scene? And do you think Manchester could do more for unsigned artist?
It is ok in places and there’s usually one good thing a week, but Manchester can be very caught up with ‘musical heritage’, and the main audiences seem to be dads or students, or both…
Scenes are always defined by the people who stand outside of them, you can’t ‘inject’ true difference by arts schemes, groups have to build their way up. So when something good comes, Manchester just needs to give it room, and humbly promote its difference.
What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?
Good question… probably ‘A Thousand Lifetimes’ by Glen Campbell
What was the first song you wrote?
It was a song about a few nights in Marseille called ‘Riviera Nightmare’ – we developed it and it’s gonna make it onto the album we think!
What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
Never trust anyone without unaccounted-for years in them.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Do not project what might be, but what should be.

When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
All the usual things really:
– Is everyone there on time
– Is everyone in the right frame of mind
– Is everything set up right
– If you’re working with people at the venue, making sure they are on the same page as you
– Stay behind for a drink afterward if the venue is alright!
