gm

How old are you?
Old enough. 😉

What is your genre of music?
Contemporary country.

Give us a little Bio of you.
I’m a British Country artists / producer / songwriter / musician. First got up on stage when I was 5, and sang Kenny Rogers’ “Lucille” with my dad’s band. Toured Britain extensively with my own band, and won several awards. Honed my craft in Nashville, playing guitar and singing for Billy Currington, Darius Rucker, Lonestar, Joe Nichols and others. Had lots of my songs recorded, but you’ve probably only heard the Jason Michael Carroll hit (“Livin’ Our Love Song”), Lonestar’s “I Wanna Do It For You”, and my SaraBeth co-writes (including the current single “I’m Sick Of It”).
I’m currently finishing my new EP. It’ll have six songs on it. Feels good to be recording m own music again!
Also, currently helping to promote SaraBeth’s new music, which I produced (and co-wrote).

How long have you been doing music?
My whole life! Started playing when I was 5.

What made you go in to music?
I wanted to be like my dad. 🙂 Unfortunately, those were pretty huge shoes to fill, vocally. He had the best voice I’ve ever heard. My genes have cheated me a bit, I think! Ha! If I didn’t look just like my dad, I’d have to wonder what the milkman’s singing voice sounded like…. 🙂

Are you a signed Artist?
Nope. Free as a bird!

What instruments do you play?
Guitar, mandolin and banjo.

Who are your influences?
Ricky Skaggs, Steve Earle, Sons Of The Desert, and countless others.

When will your new material be out?
Hopefully it’ll be ready for our UK tour which starts August 15th.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
To me, songwriting is a craft. Something you learn and get better at the more you do it. Nowadays, I don’t need to feel inspired to write a song. I have learned “the song is in the room”. You just need to learn to reach out and grab it! That usually comes with a chat about what’s going on in your life (or a co-writers life), or what’s going on in the world.

Where do you see yourself in 2-5 Years?
I hope to be doing more production work, and more of my own music (rather than solely playing for other people).
If you weren’t doing music what would you be doing?
There was never a Plan B….. so…. I’d be living in a van, down by the river??

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?
In my relaxation time? I like to play video games. My favorite is Civilization V, and I like to kick my best friend Rob’s butt online. Other than that, I like to go out and hear other performers. So… more music!

If you could collaborate with one UK Artist or band who would it be?
Paul McCartney.

If you could collaborate with one USA Artist or band who would it be?
Steve Earle.

Where is your dream venue or festival to perform in UK?
Royal Albert Hall, or Wembley.

Where is your dream venue or festival to perform in USA?
Luckily, I think I’ve played them all! Madison Square Garden, The Ryman Auditorium, The Grand Ol’ Opry House.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?
There’s something to learn from every musician. Even if the musician isn’t particularly proficient, there’ll still be something he plays that can inspire.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Keep at it! Don’t let ‘em bring you down! Stay determined, and be confident! You’ve got this!!! Ha!

What quote or saying do you always stick by?
I find Winston Churchill quotes to be motivating… but I’m not sure I “always stick by” any sayings or quotes. :/
When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you can not forget?
The time. My guitar. My lyrics. My pants. My name. 😉

Do you have social media accounts so your fans can follow you?
