What are your names and who does what in the band?

James (vocalist and lead guitarist), Adam (bassist and backing vocal) and last but not least

Stephen (Drummer)

What is your band’s Genre?

We fall into the Alternative Rock genre but you’ll have to listen to make your own mind up!

Give us a little bio of the band and you guys as individual.

Formed in October 2013, The Vectors are a 3 piece alternative rock band from the Dudley area of the West Midlands. Drawing influence from the modern rock and indie scene, as well as from heavier and more wide-ranging genres, The Vectors are developing an upbeat and vibrant style with a darker, rougher edge.

James is very much the darker side to the band. He provides edgy guitar lines with a blues heavy feel. His vocals often get compared between two successful male vocalists which is always interesting to listen to. The softer indie sides finds it’s self located in Adam, pushing out catchy lyrics and chorus’s to use with his groove driven baselines. He also manages the band booking shows and designing all of their media presence. Last but not least we have Stephen. He is neither a crazy or very straight up when it comes to his instrument. He takes time to fit a beat around what Adam and James write which gives the song an edge.

Where did you get the band name from?

The band name we chose on the basis we thought it sounded cool. We also chose it on the fact that it’s a friendly name but still carries an edge, not being too hard to forget!

Who does the writing in the group?

James will write alot of the edgier material where as Adam will write the happier, catchier songs. They both have written full songs on their own and all collaborated giving them this unique edge!

Are You Signed?

We are currently not signed but are in talked with a label.

What Instruments do you play?

Throughout the whole band there consists of one guitar, one bass and a drum kit!

How did the band come about?

Long time friends and colleagues Adam Lloyd (singer/songwriter/photographer) and Stephen Hunter (former drummer for ‘Playing With Hammers), both experienced musicians, placed an advert for a guitarist to form a new band. This advert caught the eye of James Pearson, who auditioned for the project on the 22nd of October 2013. After a highly productive audition James was invited to join the band that very same day. With their hard hitting yet melancholy blend of alternative rock and indie, The Vectors make a point of making sure every word and every note are felt.

How did you guys meet?

Adam and Stephen had been friends for around a year, meeting through both Volunteering at the same musical youth centre! The two musicians only became to know James through him auditioning for The Vectors.

Who Are Your Influences?

James’ main influences in genre are metal, rock and mainly blues. Adam’s main influences are very creative indie driven. Stephen’s inspiration through genre is from Metal, which explains his technical beats.

What are your background’s in music whether it’s in music or not?

James is currently studying Creative Events Management at college both to further himself as the band. He has found himself in many bands before, but never one that felt as right as The Vectors. Adam has a very creative background studying Graphic designing at college which he is now carrying on at University! Stephen is a Youth Worker, which gives him allot of communication skills and ideas within the band!

How did music come into your lives and when did you start doing it?

I think for all of The Vectors music played a large roll in all of their lives. James even played a main role in a large production of Les Miserables!

When will you be releasing material?

We already have two track out with you can listen to on our soundcloud (www.soundcloud.com/thevectorsuk). We are releasing our new single ‘By Your Side’ very soon!

How do you get inspiration to write songs?

Adam will write songs that can make you cry from nothing at all where as James style of writing is from the heart, which you definitely feel when we play live!

Where do you see the band in 2-5 years time?

We see our selfs expanding out of the West Midlands and hopefully having a few tours under our belt with a medium fan base. We all understand that things take times, but you have to have dreams and believe in yourself without trying to sound big headed!

Where would your dream place be to perform?

I suppose the correct answer for us would be anywhere with a willing crowd! We get alot of people clapping and dancing so any show with a crowd willing to let themselves go is our idea of a good show!

If you could do collaboration with anyone who would it be?

A collaboration for Adam would be with his all time favourite band, Biffy Clyro! For James it would be with Joe Bonamassa and for Stephen it would be with Lamb Of God.

If you got asked by a TV show or Film to have your music played on, which show or film would it be?

For me and James it would have to fall on either Game of Thrones or Sons Of Anarchy as we love both! Stephen it would be Pokémon… Just Pokémon!

Do you have a website, social media pages or music pages for your fans to follow you?

They should all be underneath! 😀
